This Talk Will Take You Into The Future With Chris Robson - Prognostications on the Metaverse

FINTECH TV is a niche but impressively run TV channel. I was asked by them to provide some thoughts on the future of the Metaverse.

Now, this was tricky as the Metaverse is poorly defined today, and I would currently put myself in the ‘skeptic’ camp.

If we think of the Metaverse as being the intersection of VR and Web3 technologies, then my overall take is that VR is still in its infancy, and I am not convinced yet that Web3 actually brings much of value to the party. Which is awkward, because the audience for FINTECH TV is likely to be much more positive about that than I am.

So what to do? I decided to focus instead on the user or customer experience, rather that the what or why.

One thing we can definitively say is that as companies roll out their Metaverse experiences, then even if they have great product they will fail if the experience sucks.

So that’s what I focused on. And it was well received. FINTECH TV, summarized it like this:

As a final note, this was my first experience of a live TV interview, and the whole logistics of it was fascinating. The organization was impressive, and I came away with a huge respect for how skilled and professional the presenter, Alicia Nieves, was.
