When it comes to AI: Think Workflow, not Chat!

One of the frustrating things about the newly-discovered excitement about the new AI tools is that people have become narrowly-focused on ‘chat.’

For many people ChatGPT was their first introduction to the power of modern Large Language Models. And it is exciting! It is just that there is so much more power and possibilities in the technologies than we can see through the public chat interfaces. And yet for some who are new to all of this ‘ChatGPT’ has become almost synonymous with AI - which is quite telling.

I don’t want to diminish the value of chat - it can be the right tool in some cases - but I do think that focusing only on that mode misses much of what is exciting. I am strongly of the opinion that we need to put these technologies to work - and that means focusing on workflow.
